The Reverend Barry Dunsmore, M.A.   B.D.

Barry DunsmoreBorn in Glasgow, Barry graduated from The University of Glasgow with degrees in Arts and Theology. He subsequently pursued post graduate studies both at The University of Nairobi in Kenya, and at Princeton Theological Seminary in New Jersey.

Barry was ordained and inducted to the former Erskine Church in Saltcoats, Scotland in 1982, as full time parish minister. From there, in 1988, he was called to St. Columba’s Church in Stirling, Scotland for twelve years, and then on to St Columba's Church in Knightsbridge, London linked with Newcastle St Andrews Church, UK. While there he served in many capacities within the Presbytery of England, and continued his work on General Assembly Boards and Councils.

At St. Columba’s, in the heart of London, Mr. Dunsmore led a young, vibrant and diverse congregation. He has had a particular focus on the care of the homeless, and was involved in the leadership of the West London Churches Homeless Concern, offering shelters to the homeless every night from November to April. In September of 2007, on the 25th Anniversary of his ordination, a book of his sermons was published, ‘Challenge, Comfort, Forgiveness and Welcome – Words to the World at Such A Time as This’, with all proceeds to benefit ‘Borderline’, a Church of Scotland Advisory Service, assisting homeless Scots in the London area.

Along side Barry, offering support and encouragement throughout his ministry, is Hilda, Barry’s wife. Hilda is a gynaecologist, previously practicing at Guy's Hospital in Central London. Barry and Hilda are the parents of 2 grown children, Jenni and Philip.

Mrs. Elizabeth Parker - Church Administrator

Liz Parker

Liz Parker, known to most of us as Liz, was born in Bermuda on the 24th July, 1948 to Ralph and Winnie Fairs. Married to Geoff Parker. The couple has two sons, Geoffrey Jr., and Douglas and one grandchild.

Liz first started working as Church secretary at the end of January, 2000. The job is so varied - no two days are ever the same. She can be filling in the Baptismal or Burial Registers, updating the database, ordering supplies, sending out minutes for the Kirk Session and Congregational board, renting out one of the Halls, Keeping the minister up-to-date with the happenings in and around the Church - the list goes on! The Congregational Board has now changed her job title to Church Administrator.

In addition to being Church Administrator, Liz is an elder, on the Congregational Board (Fabric Committee), on the social concerns committee and has been the Flower convener for many years.

Liz was the first to be elected, by the Kirk Session, as the Church's representative on the Presbytery of Europe to represent Christ Church as Presbytery Elder.

Other organization involvements have included being President of the Bermuda Junior Service League and The Garden Club of Bermuda

Mr. Oliver Brugada-Grant - Organist

Oliver Brugada-Grant

Originally from England, Oliver has been our organist since 2006.

Oliver studied piano in Madrid Conservatoire and later in Bath Spa University and Royal Northern College of Music in Manchester. He has performed in London, Bath, Chester, Manchester, Derby, Nottingham, Madrid and Bermuda.

Concertos include Rachmaninov's second piano concerto with the Bath Philharmonic and later with the Derby Concert orchestra. He performed the Liszt Piano Concerto #1 with the Chester Philharmonic orchestra.

Since September 2006 Oliver has taught piano at the Bermuda School of Music.

Mr. Randy Bakabak - Sexton

Randy Bakabak

Randolph Bakabak, known to us as Randy, was born in Banate IIo in the Philippines on the 10th November, 1958. After completing High School in Manila, Randy attended Lyseum University in Manila, where he studied for a BSc. in Business Administration. Later he moved to Saudi Arabia and eventually to Bermuda in 1987. where he worked at various hotels. He applied for the position as sexton of our church and has been with us for a number of years. He is married and the couple have a teenage son. Randy enjoys the work at the church and, whilst he was brought up catholic, he now enjoys our services each Sunday.
